Position Title: Research Technician
Location: Hays, Kansas
Responsibilities: The field crops entomology project at the Agricultural Research Center in Hays, KS, invites applications for a full-time research technician position. Duties will include growing plants in a greenhouse, collecting insects from the field, maintaining insect colonies in the laboratory, collecting and compiling data from experiments, and assisting with some agronomic activities in field experiments. The suitable candidate will be motivated by scientific curiosity, possess a versatile skill set, be willing to learn new techniques, and demonstrate independent capability in task accomplishment. A flexible work schedule will be required with some weekend hours. This is an entry level, term position with the possibility of reappointment for multiple years, depending on performance and the availability of funding.
Required Qualifications: High School diploma, 1-2 years work experience
Preferred: B.Sc. in a biological discipline, some experience working in a laboratory setting, some coursework in entomology or a closely related discipline, experience rearing and working with live insects.
Compensation: $30,000 per annum with benefits
